9th grade and my first attempt to have a poem published. I had a magazine subscription and December's topic was siblings.
Siblings
I bruised my head.
He laughed, 'cause I'm his sister.'
I wanted privacy.
She followed, 'cause I'm her sister.'
He threatened me if I bugged him.
She cried if I didn't play.
'Cause I'm their sister.'
When he used me, I forgave.
When she broke things, I forgot.
When they had secrets, I kept them.
Only cause, 'I'm their sister.'
When I scared, he protected me.
When I was hurt, she hugged me.
When I was troubled, they helped me.
He teased me, she bugged me.
They talked to me, supported me.
Cause, hey, 'I'm their sister.'
