Awaiting

April 1999. 11th Grade, age 17
This was written in the middle of the night before a really big day. I had a trial practice and a possibility of a big date. Things had been pretty crazy, but I was hopeful that this day would be amazing. And, I couldn't sleep.  PS. The day ended up great!

Awaiting
Awaiting for what?
                         Tomorrow.
But tomorrow is all unknown.
                          Yet we can't help anticipating.
Though nothing set in stone.
                          The thought brings a smile.
Yet nothing doesn't ache.
                          For everything could happen.
And my heart could break.
But magic is worth the risk.
                          Fireworks are worth the cold.
But both are just images,
Just eyes seeing what they are told.
So we'll just sit and wait.
                          And let whatever happens go.
For sometimes plans go away.
And it's better just not to know.
